The cities of Croatia are in a festive spirit throughout the year. The Pula Film Festival in mid-July is one of the most important events in the national film industry.
The capital city also hosts the International Folklore Festival (showcasing heritage from counties around the globe) and the International Puppet Festival (a delightful festival attracting children and adults alike).
The three-day Fjera medieval fair takes place on Rab Island (opening on 25 July) and hosts traditional Croatian pottery, paintings, crafts and sculptures. Also of importance are the Hvar Summer Festival (which lasts for nearly a hundred days starting on 21 June) and the more firmly established Dubrovnik Summer Festival (between 10 July and 25 August) that features music, dance and theatre of the likes of Shakespeare and Greek tragedians.
