Novi Vinodolski, in Croatia, is located in the Vinodol Channel at the estuary of the Suha Ricina River in the fertile Vinodol Valley.
The sea lends a mild Mediterranean climate to the city. In winter, the temperature drops to 10 °C. The summer, with temperature in the range of 28°C is the best time to visit. With a population of around 5,300, Novi Vinodolski is divided into the older part on the hill and the new town, with villas and tourist facilities, situated along the sea on the southeast of the port.
The city has been a popular holiday destination since the nineteenth century. The littoral architecture, of white facades and red roofs, stands a testimony to these early holiday makers. While tourism is an important part of the city’s economy, it also relies on its timber, agriculture and pharmaceutical industries.
