Petrcane, a village and harbour in Croatia, is located in the Zadar Channel on the Petrcane Cove.
The village is surrounded by a pine forest and has a 2 km long beach. While it has only recently become famous as a beach resort, the climate was always well prepared for it. Its Mediterranean climate with temperatures of around 25°C in the summer makes it the ideal time to visit.
In the Middle Ages, the city was one of the estates of the Zadar monasteries of St. Krsevan and Plato. A short drive from Petrcane is the historical town of Nin that has is known as the cradle of Croatian culture.
With a population of around 600, this 900 year old village is engaged entirely in farming and fishing. Tourism is its most recent industry.
