Punat: Attractions and more...
The eighteenth century Parish Church of the Holy Trinity, with its baroque altar, and the St. Donatus Church, a remnant of the early Croatian period, are high on the important monument list.
The summer months see open theatre performances and concerts by the folklore group, Dalmatinske Klape. Puntarska Noć, or Punat Night, and Ribarski Dan, or Fishing Day, are big crowd pullers.
Local pasta called šurlice, makaroni and njoki with Krk lamb and prosciutto accompanied by a glass of the local dry white wine, Vrbnička žlahtina, are the region’s speciality.
With its famous marina, it is no surprise that Punat is a leading centre of yachting tourism as well as diving on the Croatian coastline.
Taxi boat operators run regular charters to the Košljun Island. The tiny island is known for its fifteenth century Franciscan Monastery and the Church of Assumption. The concerts held at the Conventus Atrion are a local favourite.
