Rabac: Attractions and more...
The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s Birth was constructed in the fourteenth century and has been reconstructed several times since. In 1604, a Venetian lion with a sphere in its mouth, a symbol of Labin recognising the Venetian government, was added. The Porta Sanfior dates back to the sixteenth century and the baroque palace of the Battiala-Lazzarini family, now a town museum, are worth stopping at.
The Oliva and Prohaska sports centres are two well-equipped facilities with provisions for cycling, and tennis. The Maslinica beach offers water skiing, banana boat rides and jet skis.
Konobas are rustic restaurants built out of stone with large fireplaces and serve the city’s favourite food. Fuži, the local pasta along with game sauce, a hearty broth of beans with corn, or manestra, zarebnjak or pork loin with sauerkraut and pršut or dried ham are the local favourites.
