Vodice: Attractions and more...
Only a three-storey tower, called the Caric’s Tower, remains of the city’s original sixteenth century surrounding walls. The town’s baroque style parish church is an important monument because of its painting of the Holy Family on the main altar. The former parish church, the eighteenth century St. Cross Church is in the western part of town.
The nearby hill Okit is especially significant as refugees founded a settlement there during the Turkish invasions. The Chapel of the Lady of Mercy, built in 1660, stands at the top.
The traditional feast of Vodice takes place in August. Vodice also holds the Croatian Festival of Local Radio Stations in June and the Day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is celebrated on 16th July.
Dalmatian cuisine dominates the more than 100 city restaurants. The Konobi Roki is a small restaurant that specialises in traditional cuisine involving seafood and grilled dishes.
