Nicosia Museums

There are quite a few attractive and award-wining museums worth visiting in the city. The Archaeological Museum of Nicosia, built in 1908, displays exhibits from the Neolithic period, especially stone implements.

The largest collection of icons on the island of Cyprus is displayed in this Museum in the Old City of Nicosia. The icons date from the 9th to the 18th centuries. The museum also presents maps, lithographs and oil paintings.
