Paralimni: Attractions and more...
Every leisure activity here is related to the sea. The endless warm, sandy beaches offer a plethora of water sports including water skiing and windsurfing. Diving is extremely popular, and the deep, clear waters offer a breathtaking view of underwater sea life. Those unsure about going under can be content visiting the Protaras Aquarium.
The city is known for ambeloboulia, a songbird cooked in the traditional fashion and eaten whole. This dish is officially illegal and tourists are warned to try this dish at their own risk.
The Paralimni Cultural Summer Festival, in July, celebrates the country’s heritage through dance and storytelling sessions. The Flood Festival involves a procession that ends with the priest throwing a cross into the sea, which is then retrieved by swimmers.
Agia Napa, one of the country’s most celebrated party towns, and Cape Greco, regarded as the most beautiful place on the island, are not far from Paralimni.
