The village Church of Panagia Neroferousa, or the Madonna that brings water, is named to commemorate the rains after the feast of Assumption. The Chapel of St. John Prodromos, in the north of the village, was built in 1996 in the style of the Aegean islands. The Feast of John the Baptist is an important day here.
The city also boasts a Hunting Club that was established in 2002. The club’s mission is to protect the natural flora and fauna and they are also engaged in community service activities.
Governor’s Beach was popular amongst the locals long before it was discovered even by the rest of the islanders. In its current form, it caters to all tourist comforts with numerous restaurants and taverns to choose from.
The town is now planning to construct a sports stadium for its community.
