Benešov is known for its architectural wonders, the most attractive of them being the Konopiste Castle just 2 km away from the town’s railway station. The magnificent collection of trophies and weapons as well as a guided tour of the castle chapel and the private rooms of the royalty that owned the castle is well worth your time.
The Benesov Brewery is quite famous across the country not only for its beer but also for a tour of how the special Czech beer is actually brewed. For those who love water sports like rowing, waterskiing, windsurfing and yachting, the Slapy Valley dam reservoir, 18 km west of the town, is the place to go.
Tourists can get an insight into the history of Benešov by visiting the town museum in Small Square. The Cesky Sternberk Castle (open from April–October), the Jemniste Castle and the Baroque monastery complex ruins are some of the town’s most renowned historical wonders that can also be visited.
