This museum gives information about the history of the Spilberk Castle built in the 13th century. This castle served as a prison for the opponents of the Hapsburg Monarchy as well as the common criminals in the town. The museum is situated in the Spilberk Castle on Spilberk Hill in Brno and was incorporated in 1960 after the Czechoslovakian army left Spilberk marking an end to the military era in the region.
