For a small town, Ceský Krumlov has a number of remarkable monuments and attractions. The second largest castle in the Czech Republic, the Krumlov Castle, can be found here. The castle houses a seventeenth century Baroque theatre with its original stage props and machinery. If you’re lucky, you can watch a Baroque opera that is performed thrice a year when it is opened to the public.
The garden theatre is located in the vast castle gardens and has a revolving auditorium for visitors to admire the scenery of the castle’s landscape. The history of the town is explained in detail at the Town Museum, which also exhibits a ceramic model of Ceský Krumlov.
St. Vitus’s church tower offers a spectacular view of the old Renaissance structures of the town and the Vltava basin. Be a part of the unique culture of the land with the Five-Petalled Rose Festival which takes place during the summer solstice weekend every June.
