With its ruins of castles, and its long-standing history, Hradec Králové is a veritable treasure trove for history buffs and culture seekers. It is home to the famous Petrof pianos. It also has two 14th century monuments and a couple of huge marketplaces reminiscent of medieval times.
Hradec Králové is the hometown of the renowned Drak Puppet Theatre as well as of a remarkable boys’ choir. One can also find the town museum and a Gallery for Modern Art at the town centre.
The best times to visit the town are in May for the spectacular ‘Air Ambulance Show’, June for the International Theatre Festival, August for Europe’s biggest Hip Hop festivals and October for the International Jazz festival.
Rock climbers can visit the nearby Krkonoše and Orlické Mountains and the Prachovské Rocks.
So whether it’s culture or adventure, Hradec Králové appeals to the inner soul of any tourist.
