Tourist Guide Kašperské Hory
Situated in the Šumava Mountains is the tiny town of Kašperské Hory. It is in the Plzeň Region of the Czech Republic and is close to the German border.
Historically, Kašperské Hory was well known as the medieval centre of gold mining. However, since the Thirty Year War, the mining was not restored. During the 19th century, the main occupation has been timber management, specifically, in the production of safety matches.
This small mountainous town has a very good and healthy climate and a population of only about 1,500 people.
