Kašperské Hory is situated near the edge of the Bohemian Forest and just below the ruins of the Kašperk castle, which is a good place to explore. In the town square, one can find the Museum of Šumava, which pays glowing tribute to the arts of woodcutting, glassmaking, etc.
Other places of interest in this town are St. Margaret’s Church and the Renaissance town hall, which was built in 1579 and reconstructed in the baroque style in 1698.
There is also the trail called the ‘Way of the Gold Miners’ which leads around town. In addition, there are a few walking trails that enable tourists to appreciate the scenic and natural beauty of the region. One can also visit the protected Amálino Údolí which has some very interesting geological formations.
Skiing, horse riding, biking and bowling are other activities that visitors can enjoy.
Before leaving this charming little town, a visit to the glass factory will leave a lasting impression on anyone. As the factory is open to public, this should be very easy to accomplish.
