Tourist Guide Mariánské Lázne
Marienbad, better known as Mariánské Lázně, can be described as one of the spa towns located in Czech Republic’s Carlsbad Region.
Marienbad, having surrounded by ‘green’ mountains, can be mentioned as a beautiful mosaic of noble houses and parks. Majority of its buildings happen to come from Golden Era of the town in 2nd half of nineteenth century. It was the time when several celebrities as well as top rulers of Europe came for enjoying curative ‘carbon dioxide springs’.
Marienbad is reported to be 2 centuries old. However, locality had been inhabited much before. Very-first written record can be traced back to the year 1273. At that time, there had been a hamlet of ‘Usovice’. Actual name, i.e. Marienbad was obtained in the year 1808. In the year 1818, it went on to become a ‘watering-place’. Charter in the form of a town was received in the year 1868.
At the dawn of early twentieth century, around 1000000 bottles pertaining to mineral water started getting exported every year from Marienbad.
