This Old Jewish Cemetery is located in Josefov which is the Jewish Quarter of Prague in the Czech Republic. It was being used since the 15th Century until the year 1787. It is known to be the oldest Jewish Cemetery in Europe. Avigdor Kara was the first person to be buried in this cemetery. More than 200,000 residents were buried here and since the cemetery could hold only 10 percent of that amount, the tombs were layered on top of each other. Now, about 12,000 tombstones exist.
