The National Museum is a prestigious gem of Czech Republic. It is the real displayer of the history and heritage of this nation. The museum was founded in Prague in 1818.
Visitors can see the historical and natural scientific exhibits in the museum. Currently the museum houses a huge collection of nearly 14 million artifacts and items.
These are inclusive of natural history, cultural history, music, arts and many more. The museum lies at Prague 1, Václavské náměstí 68 in Prague. This huge museum is divided into several departments.
The Prohistory and Prehistory Department holds a rich collection of the artifacts which date back to thousands of years. These artifacts are some of the best archaeological pieces in the museum.
The Classical Archaeological department holds various weapons, tools and documents used in revolutionary wars. Besides these, tourists can visit the departments of Ethnography, Numismatic and Theater.
The museum remains open on all days from 10am-6pm in May to September; while 9am-5pm in October to April.
