Nové Mesto (the New Town) is a quarter located in Prague, Czech Republic. It is considered as the largest and youngest of the five independent towns that date back from the Middle Ages to 1784.

These towns now make the historic center of the modern city. The town was established in 1348 by Charles IV. Although one can relate the town’s present layout to its establishment in the fourteenth century, only some of the churches and buildings of that time survive today.

The most famous landmark of quarter is the Wenceslas Square, originally built as a horse market. Today it functions as a center of tourism and commerce. The town also features some magnificent gothic and baroque style churches.
