Trebon: Attractions and more...
Třeboň castle is the main tourist attraction of the region, and this Renaissance structure can be explored and appreciated through a guided tour. The town hall, the church and the other old buildings are good examples of architecture and history.
St. Mary’s Column consists of a pedestal that forms the base of a narrow pyramid on which is mounted a statue of the Virgin Mary. The structure incorporates some exquisite sculptures.
Many of the lakes and the artificial canals surrounding Třeboň are used to breed carp. Every year, during the late autumn, there is a ‘Harvest of the Carps’ that is a spectacle to behold. Water from some of the lakes is pumped out to catch all the carp.
Třeboň is also home to the famous Regent brewery which was established in 1379. While in Třeboň, make sure you try a baked carp and a ‘Regent’ for lunch or dinner. A visit to the local brewery is also an enjoyable experience.
