Tourist Guide Vimperk
Nestled in the midst of the Šumava National Park of the Czech Republic is the town of Vimperk. It lies at the foothills of the Boubín Mountains, a part of the Volyňka River valley.
Historically, Vimperk was once a part of the Golden Trail or the Salt Path that stretched right from Passau to this town. This trail was used for the trade and transport of commodities like salt, oil and other essential goods to Bohemia.
Vimperk has a population of 8090 and a mild to cold wet weather. In the middle ages there was a shift from salt trading to the printing and glass making industries. During the 18th century, the glass making industry saw a big boom. The first printed Czech calendar was produced here.
