Aalborg, with approximately 120,000 inhabitants, is the fourth largest city of Denmark. The Aalborg Air Base, a crucial base of the Danish Air Force, is located here and it is also the seat of a Lutheran bishop. It also houses the Danish Distilleries, the largest manufacturer and dealer of spirits in Scandinavia.
The warm weather sets in with April and continues up to September. Summer is the best time to visit with temperatures often reaching a pleasant 22°C. Winter, in Aalborg, is quite severe with temperatures in January averaging 0°C.
In the Middle Ages, Aalborg was occupied by the Vikings and was a crucial harbour. It still maintains its reputation of being an important centre for industry and trade.
