The Museum of Danish Resistance is situated at 7, Churchill Park. It remains open from 10AM to 3PM on all days of the week except Monday. Serving also as a memorial, this museum is open to the public free-of-charge.
The museum, as its name implies, narrates and honors the story of Danish resistance during the period of Nazi occupation, from 1940-1945.
It started with a temporary exhibition known as ‘Fighting Denmark’ in 1945, which was converted into a permanent museum inaugurated in 1995.
The museum showcases chronological illustrations of the proceedings of the Danish resistance. It starts from the development of the movement due to the constantly changing society framework and battle tides.
Different types of resistance works are displayed here. Texts are provided in both English and Danish. Testimonial videos are also dubbed in English. The museum offers some rare and interesting objects and artifacts from the resistance.
This includes knitted white, blue and red skull-caps as well as radio equipment.
