Randers is the only natural river harbour of Denmark. With approximately 58,000 inhabitants, it is a blend of historic structures and prospering industries.
Randers enjoys a temperate maritime climate. Summers are the best time to visit with temperatures ranging from 17°C to 20°C. Winters are very cold with an average temperature of 0°C.
The town gained much prosperity in the Middle Ages leading to a spurt in the construction of churches and monasteries. Later, the town dwindled to nothingness after being struck by the plague. Trade and commerce by both land and sea helped Randers resurrect itself to its current stature.
Randers used to be a fortified town but none of the fort walls exist today. Many of its properties are owned by the Crown (the King), and thus, it is known as Crown Jutland and its residents, Crown Jutlanders.
