Tourist Guide Parnu
Parnu, in south west Estonia, is a resort town along the coast of the Baltic Sea. This town of approximately 45,000 inhabitants is a thriving international holiday spot, especially in the summer.
Parnu enjoys a temperate climate. Summer lasts from May to September with temperatures ranging from 14ºC to 22ºC. July and August are the wettest months. January to March sees very heavy snowfall.
Historically, Parnu was a member of the Baltic trading guilds. It was fought over and captured repeatedly by Germany, Poland, Sweden and Russia. Plague, fires and finally wars in Europe destroyed its trading activities. The town was reborn as a health spa in the 1800s and came to be known as the summer capital of Estonia.
