The Museum of Photography is one of the 8 city museums in Tallinn. This museum is located at the 4/6 Raekoja Street in Estonian city of Tallinn. This museum is housed in an 2- centuries old prison building.
The prison dates back to the 14th century. As the name suggests, this museum holds a spectacular collection of old and new photographs. The number of black and white photographs is significant in this museum.
The photographs display the historical events which occurred in the city. Visitors can see rare ferrotypes, amrotypes and daguerreotypes.
The collection includes photographs taken by Ch. Borchardt, J and P Parikas and Joh.Mülber.
Some of the photographs have been awarded in the past. Another section in the museum holds various versions of the camera. A toy like camera is also preserved in this collection.
The museum remains open from 10.30 am to 6 pm on all days, except Wednesday.
