Karelia Lake Country in Finland is known for its unique landscape and lakes.
Karelia Lake Country has a distinct topography. Forests and water bodies account for 49% and 25% of its area, respectively.
Valaam, a fourteenth-century orthodox cathedral, is one of the largest cathedrals of its kind and is a popular tourist attraction. It is an architectural landmark with beautiful gardens and ancient buildings. Solovetskie and Kizhi islands are other major attractions worth visiting.
The place offers many outdoor activities for all the adventure lovers such as skiing, snowboarding, boating etc. Lake Pielinen, the largest lake in Finland, is a great place for swimming and fishing. The Koli National Park, near the lake, was set up to preserve the natural beauty of Karelia and is an excellent spot for hiking and cycling.
