Savonlinna can be described as a town as well as municipality located in south-eastern part of Finland, at the center of ‘Saimaa Lake Region’.
Savonlinna had been founded in the year 1639; with its base revolving around Olavinlinna. Erik Axelsson Tott was the person who founded the castle in the year 1475 with an objective of protecting Savonia as well as for controlling unstable border which existed between ‘Kingdom of Sweden’ and ‘Russian adversary’ on its part.
