Champ de Mars can be described as a lengthy tree-planted ‘open space’. It was one amongst the military parade grounds till 1804. Thereafter, it went on to become a ‘municipal park’. Head Post Office lies on western side of it; whereas Prefecture lies on the southern side. It was constructed in the year 1869. A municipal Theater, i.e. Place du 18 Novembre lies on the northern side.
