The beach of Cote des Basques is a surfers' beach on the Boulevard du Prince de Galles. It almost has no sand at high tide and is very good at low tide. This beach is ideal for surfing but only at low tide as getting out of the water is very difficult at high tide due to the rocks. The beach authorities maintain a daily information facility regarding all beaches and also a hot line for any person in distress on the shores in no working times. Beach activity is controlled with the help of a number of coloured flags with corresponding meanings.
