Also known as Lower Normandy, Basse-Normandie consists of three departments, Orne, Manche and Calvados. This is a picturesque region, home to pretty seaside villages and towns. This region is famous worldwide for its Apple orchards, little fishing ports, cider houses and backcountry villages, all timeless favorites and a must see place in Normandy. Basse-Normandie is situated to the northwest seaboard of France and is 160 kilometers from Paris. Due to its oceanic influence, the region enjoys a moderate climate. It is worth visiting for its good geographical diversity, large plains, combining forests, rocky areas, bocage, marshes and for its seashores. Basse-Normandie generally receives cool winters and mild summers. It has temperate climate which is similar to that of southern part of England.
