Tourist guide Chambord

Chambord is a small village in the Loire valley in the heart of France. This village of approximately 230 inhabitants is renowned world over for being the site of the Chateau de Chambord. The castle attracts over 800,000 visitors to this little village every year.

Chambord’s proximity to the Atlantic Ocean plays a big role in its climate. The climate is quite mild and spring is the best season to visit, with the average temperature at 17°C. Summers can get quite hot. The average temperature in winters is 7°C, but it rains frequently at this time of the year.

The castle was constructed primarily to serve as a hunting lodge. During the hunting season the king would arrive at the castle with his entourage of visitors and servants. At the time, there was no village in the area, so all the food required for the group would be carried by them.
