The town of Ajaccio is the capital of the territory of Corsica in France. It is situated on the Western Coast of the Island of Corsica, at the foot of wooded hills, on the northern shore of the Gulf of Ajaccio.
Corsica generally has a Mediterranean climate, and the Ajaccio region has a very favourable climate of mild winters and hot and dry summers. The population of 53,000 also enjoys the breeze from the sea and the forest nearby.
The economy of the town of Ajaccio is mostly dependent on manufacturing. They manufacture items like cigars and macaroni. They also have shipbuilding industries and sardine and coral fishing. They also export items like timber, chestnuts, Gallic acid, citrons etc.
