Ajaccio: Attractions and more...
Ajaccio is most famously known for being the birth place of the French Emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte. The house that he was born in, in 1769, is still preserved. There is also the National Museum of the Bonaparte Residence which is dedicated to the life of this legendary Emperor.
For art aficionados, there is the Musee Fesch, founded by Cardinal Fesch, which has a fine collection of Renaissance paintings. In the heart of the old town is the pleasant town square—Place Foch. It has plenty of cafes and side streets that are perfect for exploring.
Music lovers would find a variety of festivals held in different months to celebrate local traditional songs.
Near Ajaccio, in the wooded hills, there are many trails for walking that one must explore while in this beautiful bustling city.
