Tourist Guide Calvi
Calvi, a small town which is the commune of the Haute-Corse Department, is located in France. Situated on the north-western coast of the Island of Corsica, the town of Calvi lies close to Bastia and Llle-Rousse. It has a total population of around 4,800 inhabitants.
The area has a typical Mediterranean climate, characterised by hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. The north-western part of Corsica is hotter than the southern part. Western winds prevail throughout the year.
Calvi, which was initially under the Genoese Empire, houses the Second Foreign Parachute Regiment. The Maison Colomb in Calvi is believed to be the birthplace of Christopher Columbus.
