Corte, a commune in the Haute-Corse Department, is located in Corsica, France. Situated in a basin in the Tavignano Valley, the town is surrounded by hard granite hills. The city has a total population of around 6,600 inhabitants.

Over the years, the small town of Corte has evolved as an important location with great historical significance. The town, during the seventeenth century, served as the capital of the Corsica Island and also as the seat of the democratic government.
