Conciergerie is a historic monument situated in the heart of Paris on the bank of the well known River Seine. It is perhaps the oldest remaining division of the Palais de la Cité which was the first ever royal palace in the capital city of France. It functioned as a prison at the time of the French Revolution. Today it is a popular tourist site that attracts a lot of visitors. The monument is a must visit for the people who have a keen interest in history.
