La Defense is an important business district belonging to the Paris aire urbaine. It is named after the great statue La Defense de Paris which was put up in 1883 to honor the soldiers who had bravely defended the city in the France-Prussian War. The maximum high rise buildings of Paris are located near to its surroundings. Many types of events such as music concerts, fashion shows and art exhibitions are organized in this place and hence, it is regarded as a major tourist attraction.
