Marais
Le Marais or the Marsh, pronounced in French is a district in Paris and was traditionally a bourgeois place. Historically popular, Le Marais is spread across some of the parts of the 3rd and 4rth arrondissements in Paris. Presently, the neighborhood is a major center of the Paris Jewish community and has many interesting sights worth visiting. The neighborhood is popular for a strong Chinese community too, towards the north near to Republique. One famous street here is Rue des Francs-Bourgeois, which is one of the rare streets of Paris open on Sundays. Since 1980s, the district has increased numbers of gay population which can be seen through gay cafes, shops, cabarets and nightclubs.
