La Rochelle is a seaport city on the Bay of Biscay, in western France, a part of the Atlantic Ocean.
The demographics for the year 2004 showed an estimated population of 78,000. The climate here is quite warm throughout the year which is on a par with the French Riviera on the Mediterranean Southern coast of France.
The city boasts beautifully maintained architecture of its past and is one of the most picturesque and historically rich cities on the Atlantic coast, which invites so many visitors every year. This has helped to develop a strong tourism industry.
People here are generous and are very much fond of music. “FrancoFolies”, is one of the biggest music festivals in France, which takes place each summer in La Rochelle, where all the musicians come together for a week full of concerts and celebrations.
The city also celebrates various other festivals and events like Sailing in May and the Festival of French song in July.
