Upper Basilica (La Basilique Supérieure) stands on a cliff above the Gave River. It is the neo – Gothic Upper Basilica. This beautiful church was completed in 1876 and it almost took 8 years to build this historic building. This church has a 70 meter high tower. Under the church is a large crypt and towards its north lies the Grotte de Massabielle.
