Especially attractive is the old town reminiscent of Roman times and which
still preserves and witnesses the antique!
Here people crowd the street sto go shopping, to enjoy a beer in pub or stroll
along laughing, joking or simply watching the world going by!
In Place de la Comédie is a market, next to which an office de tourisme
gives maps and useful information on where to stay or go to!
In the same area are an english bookstore which has secondhand paperbacks and
a grocery store in the Polygone shopping mall.
In Summer, along the Mediterranean beaches, a medieval competition is organized.
Participants fight with lances from boats: suggestive, but too crowded, indeed!
For all those who do not like places thronged with people there are more isolated
beaches, at least in the early morning, along side the coast.
In Montpellier you will find interseting architecture from all periods of France's
history . Sights include an 18th- century water tower, an aqueduct, narrow streets
lined with tall narrow houses and a medieval-styled Ancien Courrier (where the
shopping's great).
