Obernai is a small town in the Alsace region of France. Nestled on the slopes of the Vosges Mountains, this town has a population of approximately 12,000 inhabitants.
It experiences a semi-continental climate, which is mostly warm and sunny. Summers tend to be very hot, and autumn is warm as well. There is not much rain either.
Obernai was an autonomous city for most of the Middle Ages, and thus, it organised several fairs and markets. Most of the city’s architecture developed in the Renaissance period, the impression of which can be seen even today.
Arts and craft in the Middle Ages and the wine industry in the latter years have contributed to Obernai’s economy. Its location along the famed wine road of Alsace has made it popular with tourists.
