Tourist Guide Angers

Built on the banks of the Maine river in the Anjou province of France is the beautiful and historic city of Angers. Though the earliest known tribe to inhabit Angers was a gallic tribe called Andecavi, archaeologists have found evidence to suggest that humans inhabited the region around 400,000 BC.

The population of Angers stands at 158,000. Their economy initially depended on the trade of glassworks, printing, tiles, mining, etc. Known as the ‘Black City’ for their use of slate quarried from their mines for roofing, the economy of Angers is now based on the manufacture of lorries and computers and wine and the famous Cointreau liqueur.

Angers experiences a very mild climate with no extremes, so a visit at any time is always a pleasant prospect.
