Aquarium de La Rochelle was at first situated in the district of the city of wood and then transferred to the Port des Minimes due to the fire in 1986. Since 2001, it is in the heart of the city in Gabut district. Moreover, the aquarium is a part of the largest aquarium in Europe. There are almost 10,000 animals from across the globe who share the 3,000 cubic meters of sea water. There are 60 basins of recreated natural habitat species of all oceans and the seas of the world here at the aquarium.
