The best time to visit Aix-en-Provence is in September when the weather is pleasant and it is less crowded. This makes driving around the regions of Abbaye, Rousillon, Gordes and Senanque stress free. However, if one wants to see lavender fields then it would be better to visit the region in June. July and August are hot and would make hiking tiring.
