Among the museums to be visited are:
The fantastic Museum of Fine Arts, an artwork in itself, showing some Monet’s,
Renoir’s, Bonnard’s and many others;
Musée Matisse a permanent collection of the artist which also include
the notorious Blue Nude IV and Woman with Amphora.
Monastère Notre Dame de Cimiez, where is Matisse’s tomb.
The old town is really astonishing thanks to the extraordinary mish-mash of narrow winding streets, full of lively cafés and delicious restaurants, vibrant squares, Genoese, Provençal, medieval and baroque architecture all around.
Deserve a visit some churches in the baroque style: St. Martin, St. Augustin, St. Francois de Paule, the pretty Chapelle de la Miséricorde.
Palais Lascaris, a pure gem in the Genoese baroque architecture, houses an 18th-century apothecary and a museum of local history, too.
The Cathédrale Orthodoxe Russe St-Nicolas is in a park north of the train station, open to visitors only if dressed appropriately, has been designed to resemble St. Basile in Moscow!
There is something special for families, too, where to enjoy the panoramic
views of the lively Nice! The Watery Oasis, is the ideal place for a lazy day
escape or enjoy an open air concert!
