Mont-Blanc is the highest mountain in the Alps rising up to 4,810 meter above sea level. This geological formation is ranked as eleventh in the world in topographic prominence. Known as La Dame Blanche, the nearby towns are Coumayeur and Chamonix. There is also a provision of a cable car which ascends and crosses the mountain from Chamonix to Courmayeur. There is also a tunnel named as Mont Blanc tunnel which was constructed in 1965. This 11.6 kilometer tunnel is beneath the mountain and is between the two countries.
