Chamonix-Mont-Blanc: Attractions and more...
Chamonix’s main attraction is the facilities for adventure sports. While most visitors visit this town to access the nearby skiing slopes, adventure sports like hand gliding and mountain climbing are equally popular.
The Mer de glace, a glacier, can be accessed from Chamonix by the Montenvers railway, a mountain train which winds its way through the steep slopes of the Alps. The Aiguille du Dru, in the vicinity, is known to be a challenging climb for most mountain climbers.
One can choose from a variety of cable car excursions: one, to the Aiguille du Midi for a view of the White Valley and another, to le Brevent from where one can see the Mont Blanc. A combination of cable car rides and mountain rails connects Chamonix and Courvayer in Italy; this picturesque journey takes almost an entire day to complete.
