Rhône-Alpes can be described as one amongst 26 regions of France. The name 'Rhône-Alpes' was given due to Rhone River' as well as 'Alps' mountain range.
This place stands 6th amongst European economic regions. Rhône-Alpes region covers three main cities of France.
As such, a triangle 'Lyon-Grenoble-Saint-Etienne' gets formed. These cities, in turn, are surrounded by smaller cities.
Go to la fête des lumière in December. They play with lights in the magical French atmosphere of the Rhone and the Saonna. For three days you can see performances, improvisations and a city celebrating, all focused on lights and colors. You'll be even luckier if this is all framed with a border of snow, seeing as it's winter.
It's not such a great city to live in, there are few interesting events, poor security and the welcome is limited to "hello". Stress and unfriendliness are the image conveyed by this city which is the capital of the Alps. Horrendous traffic, tasteless cosmopolitan cuisine and not much in the area of monuments to visit.
